- A Great StormThe greatest storm that ever occurred was on the night of the 19th March 1875,
It did alot of destruction. St. Mary's Catholic Church Carrick on Shannon was being built at the time of this storm and it was levelled down and the damage done amounted to £2,000. It blew the fish out of the sea and they were found on the back of Mong next day.
The storm only lasted that night.
