- There are three blacksmith forges in the parish of Annaduff. One of the blacksmiths lives in Moher in Annaduff. His name is Thomas Farrell. Another one lives in the village of Drumsna. His name is William Gilroy. The other one lives in Curramartin, Drumsna. His name is Thomas Scollan. Each of them shoes horses and asses, and makes gates, grates, cart tyres, loys, and fire ranges. There are slated roofs on some forges and there are boarded roofs on others.
In each forge there is a bellows a fireplace an anvil a vice and a drill for boring iron.
On the hearth is a tongs an iron bar for firing the fire and a tub of water. In a box on the floor are a few hammers, a rasp, a knife and nails for putting on shoes. Beside the anvil is a big sledge and a little one. About one third of the floor is boarded, and the rest is made up of clay, because the red hot iron would burn boards.- Collector
