- There was a remarkable burning in a house in the town about a year ago. The name of the house was Tuthill's. A lamp fell from a ceiling and exploded. It burned the whole building to the ground. Everything was destroyed and Mr Tuthill was at a great loss. There was also a drowning at Lough Rynn. A man named McGinty who was out bathing on Whit Sunday. He was out three times and the fourth time he went down. Boats went out and brought him in dead. A pole is standing where he was drowned and nobody goes out to that pole.
