- There is an old fort near Clooncahir wood and there are fairies in it. John Boyle saw a fairy in it and he did not like to go near it since, because he is afraid. In the dark evenings John or Tom has to go for the cows. One evening John Boyle was ploughing the field in the fort, and he saw something hopping in at the old house. An old horse that he was ploughing with must have seen it, for he ran away and broke the plough. He never ploughed it after that and I think he never will
