    Its a very nice place to be
    It is overlooking the River Shannon
    So its a grand place you see.

    There are eleven house in it
    All built new and fine
    Standing between the Shannon
    And the Great Southern railway line.

    In a very green field in Furnace
    There stands a fine spring well
    From it Furnace got its name
    About it old folks could tell.

    Of all places in this country
    Furnace is liked the best
    Some people say it should be called
