- (continued from previous page)Summer people come to it from all parts when the other wells are dry. It (ne) was never known to go dry and there is always a flow from it. There is a stone beside the well and (in) on it there is the track of St. Patrick's knee where he knelt to pray. All around the well there are round stones about the size a goose egg, They say that long ago the people used to come to pray at this well and they they used to count the Hail Mary's on the round stones. I never saw any praying at the well however and the oldest people I remember never say it either. A strange thing happened at this well in (190) 1910. Well Smather[?] was a very stingy and cross old lady and she hated to see so many people coming to the well in her land so she used to get up early in the mornings and (carry) empty out the well. The people who came were disappointed as it used to take a couple of hours for the well to fill up.(continues on next page)
