- It is with great sorrow I record today 13th July 1936 the death of my old friend John Clancy Faughill. To him, more than any man in this area am I indebted for the many tales and historical sketches that are to be found in this book. To me John was the personification of the Grand Old Life of Gael that alas is quickly passing away with his store of golden legends.
Ar dheis láimh Dé go rabh a ainm.
