His friends they do lament him
    His neighbours dull and sad
    Dim nature lost her beauty
She is now in mourning clad
The wild fowl fled their station
    The warblers changed their song
And they seemed to say when going away
May the Lord receive you Tom".

A man named Fee composed this poem about Thomas Darcy. This Thomas Darcy was a great patriot and soldier. He was a Fenian, he drilled on the Wicklow mountains. He was the bravest soldier since Michael Dwyer's time. His funeral was over five miles long and his coffin was painted green. He was buried in a graveyard called Outearágh which is situated outside of Ballinamore.
