- The first school on this site was erected in 1836 by the La Touche family who had considerable properly in the neighbourhood. It was opened as a N.S. (Roll No 1409) on 1st August 1836. John Alexander La Touche was manager from 1836 to 1892.

Ross Mahon 1st Principal 1836-1873

Philip McLeigue Principal 1900-In 1873, on the resignation of Ross Mahon a dispute arose between the Parish Priest, V Rev T Brady and the manager Mr J.A. La Touche regarding the appointment of a successor. Mr La Touche appointed Mr Moran Leitrim. Father Brady objected to the appointment as Mr Moran had been trained in Marlborough Street Training College. The dispute lasted some months the children were withdrawn from the school by order of P.P. In the end an agreement was come to. Mr Moran left and Dan Meehan who had been teaching in Mayo N.S. for some time was appointed Principal.
