One night a certain man was going home from his céilidhe. As he was going along the road he saw a black form coming towards him. He had a big blackthorn stick in his hand. He raised the stick to hit the black form but it disappeared.
He had raised his arm over his head to hit the ghost but when the ghost disappeared he found that he could not lower his arm. He had to hold his arm over his head with the stick in his hand till he came to his own house. This man was Hugh Gilheany, Currandally, Ballinamore who died about 1910 aged 73
