    Just at the sixth century's close
    And in the old chapel hard by it
    O'Carolan's relics repose.

    Dear land where your martyrs now moulder,
    Your beautys my sorrows assuage,
    Dear land of the saint and the soldier,
    The scholar, the bard and the sage
    Hasn't old Father Time set his landmark.
    The dawn of your freedom has come -
    Now where! tell me where is the landshark,
    The agent, the bailiff or bum?

    All creeds here are kindly united,
    In friendship and peace they agree,
    And think with regret on what blighted
    The hearts and the homes of the free;
    Our bells pealing out the proud story
    Of salvation o'er mountain and plain
    To lead us to mansions of glory.
    Whence never comes sorrow or pain.
