About fifty years ago a man named Mick McKeon was going to churn.He got up about five o' clock in the morning and went to his spring. When he reached the spring he saw a lovely gad. A gad was a round piece of wood which old people used round the dash. He lifted it up, and put it in his pocket. When he got home with the water, he told his wife what he got.They scalded the gad with boiling water and put it on the dash. When they were about ?? ten minutes churning they could hardly lift up the dash with butter.
