    A very popular custom and superstition in parts of Ireland is as follows: The lady who wishes to see her future husband leaves her shift before the kitchen fire to dry on Hallow Eve night, she then places nine twigs of yarrow (which she had pulled earlier in the day) under her pillow and returns to bed. She must not speak from the moment she places the yarrow under her pillow and returns to bed. She must not speak from the moment she places the yarrow under her head till 12 oc. when she gets up out of bed, and goes down to the kitchen, and if she has not broken the spell by speaking or laughing
