- There is a fort in Augharan and another in Killahurk. There are high ditches around them. It is said that the Danes built these forts. The forts are in view of one another. They are all built in a circular shape. There is no entrance into these forts. There was a man named Michael Mc Kiernan coming from a dance at four o'clock one morning. When he was coming through a field, near Augharan fort, he saw a lot of little men playing music and dancing and one of them fixing a shoe. Michael went over to them and started to dance. There was a meal got ready and Michael sat in to eat. He was just going to start eating; when he found some one pulling at his foot. He looked under the table and saw an old woman. She handed him a ring and told him to look through it at the meal. Micahel looked through it and the meal was an old cow that died about three weeks before that. Michael got into a rage and turned the table upside down. The fairies got round him and started to hit him. Michael started boxing and kicking them. In the end, the fairies left and Michael went home. It was six o'clock when he got home.
