There was a man called Hugh Doherty living in Drumgerglin. He was a drunkard. His mother was dead for some years. One night, he was coming home from his "ceilidh" he met his mother. He had a man with him. She told him to pull a blade of grass from the ground so that the man could not hear. She told him to give back a cup of salt she had borrowed when she was alive. She also told him to not drink. She was never seen after.
There was a man in Gorthermone coming home one night. He met a ghost and began to fight with him. The man was gaining; when the ghost blew his breath upon him and he died in a week.
There was a girl named Tiernan going to a dance one night. She changed her boots going by Aughavas chapel. She left them into a confession box and a priest threw them back out. The girl could not go up the chapel; from that time onward.
