- It was in the early morning of July 1st 1851 my father's aunt Margaret was up to get her father's breakfast. Some neighbouring girls came to the house and asked her if she would go bathing. Her mother came to the kitchen and asked her if she would have tea. She said she would not: she was going bathing. She then left for Doon Bay accompanied by my grand-mother and two sisters and two other girls. My grand-mother did not bathe but sat on a rock where they left their clothes.
