When the monks were running away it is said that all the gold was buried in a hole nearby. Once a man had a dream of it being hidden there and one night he and two others set out to dig for the gold.
After digging for some time I was told that they came to a flag. When they had the flag almost out, terrible sounds and noises were heard in the hole and a voice was heard saying "Let that there." The gold is there still and anyone never looked for it. - About three miles from the village of Ballylongford in the townland of Sallowglen there(continues on next page)
