    turf they killed a calf. They cut the meat into small pieces and boiled it in water. When it was boiled they thickened it with flour.
    They ate very late at night. Every man ate ten or twelve eggs on Easter Sunday. They made stampy.
    This is the way they used to make stampy. The largest raw potatoes were peeled and then a piece of tin was got and holed thickly with a nail, this was called a grater. The potatoes were grated into a tub, the contents were then strained and placed in a coarse towel and squeezed. Then a little flour was added and some salt and about a half pint of cream from the dairy. It was then kneaded and made into a cake, a hot griddle
