There is a monument situated on the east side of the village of Lixnaw. It is built on a hill near the railway line. It is built in honour of William Fitzmaurice the earl of Lixnaw. He came from England with an army to fight against the Irish.It is built on a hill and there is a wall around it. There is an underground house in it and it was there William Fitzmaurice was buried.
