  1. (continued from previous page)
    Her grace and gentle mien
God grant to me just one more view
Of the Maid of Sweet Gorteen
Now to conclude my story sad
I take my pen in hand
John O'Brien it is my name
And by the Bricks my land
My days were spent in merriment
Since my darling I'd first seen
But her abode is on a road
At a place called Sweet Gorteen.
