Because she has no tongue to lick it. - Marriages in this part of the country usually take place in Shrove. Shrove begins on the 7th January and ends on Shrove Tuesday which is the day before Ash Wednesday.
Mondays, wednesdays and Fridays are supposed to be unlucky days for marraige and the lucky days for marraige are Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
May and August are also unlucky months for marriage.
If a girl marries a man with a farm of land she has to pay so much money according to the amount of land. This money is called her dowry of Fortune.
