  1. (continued from previous page)
a rabbit run, raised a little from the ground as it is in jumps the rabbits go along. When they jump into a snare they are caught.
This is the way to make a sling. We get a piece of leather about two inches in breadth and four in length. Then we make two holes in the leather and tie a long cord in each hole. There is a noose made at the end of one cord and the index finger is put into it. The end of the other cord is held between the thumb and the index finger. A stone is put in the sling and it is twisted round violently. The free cord is left go and the stone is flung a great distance.
The material used when making a catapult is a piece of wood, two straps of rubber and a piece of leather. The wood used is a fork at the two pieces of leather are tied to the fork, one on each prong. The other two ends of the rubbers are tied to a piece of leather, in which a stone is placed. Then the rubber is pulled and the stone is left go.
Guns are made from a piece of elder branch about a foot and a half in length. The soft matter in the inside is scooped out. A notch, about four inches by half an inch is cut in the elder about three or four inches from one end. A steel wire is placed as in fig. 1. One end of the wire is pulled back and the other springs forward and drives out the charge. Fig. 2.
