years the Church went to ruins. Her body was all broken up and she had to be buried. Her bones are to be found in a tomb in the old burying ground. The graveyard to the west of Ardfert was first used in 1858. The unbaptised children used to be buried near the walls of the old burying ground. The family of the Fitzmaurices used to be buried in the old burying ground.
