    would assemble in houses, and make pancakes and burn beans and nuts, and carry on lots of games, and they usually had a dance.
    New Year's night: The woman of the house would throw a cake of bread at the door and call out three times "Hunger keep away for the year".
    New Year's morning: The people of the house would not like to see a woman coming to the house first, as they considered that it brought ill luck to the house for the year.
