    Long ago there lived a man and his wife.

    After a while they saw a light.
    "We will go into this house" said the girl.
    "No," said the boy. They walked for another bit and they saw another light.
    "We will go into this house it is too dark to walk any further" They went to the window and looked in but they saw nothing. Then they were afraid that it might be a robber that lived in it and they thought he would kill them. The girl wanted to go away but the boy did not let her.
    "We will go in," said the boy.
    "I will not go, I am afraid," said the girl.
    "I will go first" said the boy.
