  1. About seventy years ago there were no candles sold in shops. The people would gather rushes and peel them. They would melt grease and soak peeled rushes in it.
    Some people made their candles out of bog fir. They cut the fir in handy pieces and soaked it in the grease also. They would stick it by the wall or in the tall iron candle sticks.
    The people made their own candle sticks out of tin and iron. For night time people provided their own light free of cost.
