- In the year 1225 a fierce battle was fought in a place called Beul an Ath Graugh between Masshill and Cloonca.At this time there was a powerful family in County Sligo called the O'Hara.The English who had overran most of the country at this time came to take Sligo Town. As they marched from Clooncacool, making an effort to reach Sligo before sunset that evening, they met the great army of the O'Hara at Beul an Ath Graugh.They also were marching to save the town from the yeomen.The battle began where they met and it was a fierce conflict in which the yeomen were victorious.The O'Hara army returned(continues on next page)
