- About three years ago a man by the name of William Joy Ballinorig dreamt that there was gold under a flag near a white-thorn bush, in a field belonging to William Ryle, Causeway. He dreamt of it three nights in succession. Joy and a neighbour named John ‘[?]’ decided to go by nights and dig for it. After digging to a depth of two feet in the place that he dreamt he would find the gold they came upon a large flag about three feet long and two feet wide but to their disappointment they found nothing under it.
In the same field a few year’s later a large bronze cauldron was found. This cauldron would contain about forty gallons of liquid and was said to be a thousand years old.- Collector
