    Some of them do great harm, they break cups and lamps and some of them dance and sing. When the bride is going to the bridegroom's house a couple of their nearest friends always go with them for company and enjoyment. Long ago the wives used to sit with their husbands on the horses.
    The first Sunday in Shrove is called Spot Sunday and it is said the reason it is called Spot Sunday is because the boy would chose the girl to be his wife. The first Sunday in Lent is called chalk Sunday also.
