- People say a treasure is supposed to have been near Lady's Well in Ballyheigue and that it was placed there by the Danes and a man was sworn to mind it dead and alive.
Attempts were made to unearth it and a story is connected with that hidden treasure.
One night a dummy dreamt that gold was hidden there. ]
A few families from Drumnacurra and the dummy himself went there looking for it and they carried pikes and scythes with them thinking that when they had steel they would be able to fight attackers.
Not long after some men came and they commenced to fight them and the dummy cut his own nose with the scythe and from that day to this nobody ever ventured to seek for it.
Buried gold or any other hidden treasure have not been discovered.- Collector
