trade. He keeps up the old record for all are well satisfied with his work and everyone visiting the forge gets a hearty welcome.
Long ago there was a forge at Gortaderry Cross Grange, Sligo where Patk Chrystal's gate now is. It belonged to a man named Gibbin. Lumps of coal cinders are still there stuck in the ground.
Besides shoeing horses and asses he made crooks for hanging pots over the fire. Griddles for baking bread on, and Socks and culturs for the wooden plough then in use.
This man practiced economy, for all the old shoes were brought back and he re-smelted them and made the new shoes out of that iron. It was far stronger than the new iron. Only 2/- he charged for the set of horse-shoes.
Gibbin's forge was the local Broad-casting station.
News got from John Leydon, Cultycare, Grange and Thomas Kerins, Lyle, Grange, Sligo.
