  2. Long ago the people used to keep a little bag of elf stones. Those were stones which they got when going through the fields.
    They were different from other stones as they were very bright and the people thought that fairies had thrown them at the cows. If a cow got sick this little bag was put into a porringer along with copper, silver, hay and the three mearing water. The cow got this drink nine times as it was thought to be a great cure. Some of the old men used to make that cure.
