  1. Well over 100 years ago "auld" Sir Robert wanted to banish tenants out of a place in Lisadell called the seven Cartherns - seven townlands. In order to get rid of them he sent them a boat called the Pómonó.
    The boat was bored and when they were out a bit it began to leak and soon the boat sank. They were all drowned even the captain.
    Then Sir Robert was free and he had all the lands for his own cattle.
    The story goes that Sir Robert was married to an English lady and once when his father-in- law was on a visit in Lisadell and was being shown round the demesne he remarked that it was only like a cabbage garden it was so small. Why not clear all these out and get their lands.
    Sir Robert annoyed at his place being made so little of, decided to take over this vast stretch of country. He gave order to his agents to evict the tenants from the Seven Cartherns. He
