- Foxes are very plentiful around here. They do great damage. At night they come down from their dens and prowl around the country.If any hens, ducks, geese or turkeys are out they carry them off with them.People here are now on their sharps for them. Seldom they get a chance to steal.Lately they killed a fine turkey-cock on Peter Gilmartin, Gortnaleck, Grange, Sligo. It seems the bird was too big to carry off, or they may have been chased for the turkey-cock was found next morning a short distance from the house. Peter poisoned it and next morning he had two fine foxes stretched.In Spring foxes take some of the young lambs on the moutnain(continues on next page)
