    in front of his dwelling, but it had gone dry with the summer heat. The remarkable thing was the Tobar Padruig never went below a certain point which I noted for myself as I was often there. Well to his grief and consternation Tobar Padruig went dry and remained so save for the water which ran into it from the surface of the land. Finally he went to the local clergyman who lived in Kinlough about four miles away - the clergyman's name I have forgotten; and told what happened. The priest gave him a bottle of holy water and some salt and told him to put it in the well: he did so and the water returned. It has never been touched for domestic purposes since.
