  1. On the eve of the feast of St. Brigid or "Brídeóg Night," the "Brideóg goes out." They dress in straw and one carries a "Biddy." They go from house to house and they dance and play and they get money.
    The people make St. Brigid's Cross. They get two short pieces of rod and they wind blades of straw around in the form of a cross

    They pin those crosses to the rafter. They are supposed to keep sickness away from the house during the coming year.
