- Long ago there lived in a wee house in the hollow of that road near St, Annes Church, a man and his wife. The only way they had to live was by selling potteen. All the people around Strandhill used to call there. However, it was near Christmas and the woman proposed to give a small party to her best customers. The following Saturday night was appointed. They sent invitations to all those who Molly wished to have. Molly set off for Sligo and did her shopping. She bought bread, tea, sugar, butter and jam. Tea and bread were counted a luxury at that time. She came home early from Sligo o that she would have everything done in good time.
