- There are several stories about how the robin got his red breast.
Long ago they had no way for lighting fires. One time there was a hunter on the mountain. There was a white bear on the mountain too. The bear wanted to hunt the hunter. One day the hunter was very tired and he fell asleep. The white bear saw him asleep. The bear came and rolled on the fire. When he thought he had it put out he went away. The robin did not like the hunter to go. He saw a spark and he gathered moss and sticks and he went so close that he burned his breast and that is why the robin's breast is red.
