At Mittie Scanlon's home beside the Mall is a place called 'the Green Fort ' It is not like fort but like a large grass covered rock. It is edged with whitethorn bushes. From the top of the rock an fine view of Sligo town is obtained. Some people say there used to be a garrison of soldiers on this rock . Many children from the town in the Summer come out and play on this fort.
