    Saying alas! arue! what shall we do
    Our father is burned where
    We can go and weep in sadness
    Around the Mills of Ballisodare.

    Many a tender parent lamenting night and day.
    For the fate of their dear children who now lie in the clay
    And often times in brief and mourn
    They have reason for to cry.
    Their long and tender rearing now lie in their clay.
