were a large pump sunk under the sand which pumped the salt water into a large vat in which it was boiled till nothing remained but the salt. Then the salt was put into kilns and and left their to dry. It then was out into chunks and was carried on asses and was shipped to foreign countries.
Some old men remember to see the salt being shipped and to see people come in a boat from the far side of the bay to dances on the loft of the salt factory.
