  1. The roofs of the old houses were thatched and the thatch was got in rushy bottoms. The old people used to have a bed in the kitchen and it was placed in the gable wall. The fire was placed in the front wall.
    The chimneys were made of clay and wattles. In very olden times the people used to have a fire in the centre of the house with a pipe going up straight through the house. Some people had no glass for the windows
