There was a body of soldiers minding Lord French. One night they heard a noise outside which they thought was an invading army. A stray donkey happened to get tangled in the wires, the soldiers thought there were enermies out - side, they were firing shots.
They rang up the soldiers from Boyle by very lights to help them. In the morning they found the donkey, lying dead inside the gate.
