    Of a charming maiden fair,
    The curls of her yellow locks,
    They stole away my heart,
    And death I'm sure will be my cure,
    If she and I must part.

    Was I to have victorious crown,
    I would make her my queen
    And of a high renown I'd wear the the crown
    For the maid of sweet Gurteen.
