    is the man dead and she said he was a week dead. The
    young man then asked how was it he was not buried and
    she replied "There is five pounds debt on the corpse and it
    cannot leave the house until it is paid and I have no money.
    Next morning when he was leaving he gave her her five pounds
    and told her to bury the corpse. She took the money
    and was very thankful and the corpse was buried.
    Next morning he mounted his horse and rose away.
    He rode on until the middle of the night. At last he saw
    light in the distance and rode up to it. He knocked
    at the door and an old woman came to the door. He
    asked her for lodging for the night but she said
    she had no place well mamm said he if you would
    not mind to let me sit at the fire my horse will do
    outside the door. Very well said the old woman come in
    the man came in an sat at the fire. The old womans
    husband was over board to and the young man
    asked her how it is that some of the neighbours
    are not in to keep company with you. The
    old woman said "they are all killed out up
    every night this last week. Then the man asked
    "How long is the man dead. The old woman
    said" He was dead this last week". The man
    asked "How was it that he was not buried."
    The old woman answered "There is five pound
