    The wind was moaning fiercely when Míceál Duv set out over the bleak mountain-side, which nobody would dare to pass after twilight. Míceál, however was a man who heeded not these warnings, as he knew even from a child every twist and turn of the way. He had not gone far however when he heard the murmur of many unknown voices directly over his head. Míceál blessed himself for fear, as he had often heard of this place being spoken of as the "rendez-vous" of the good people or "sluagh sidhe." Soon the voices became more distinct and soon Míceál discovered the cause of all the excitement. The "sluagh-sidhe", gathered from every rath, and fort and underground cells, were, it seemed, ready to cross the ocean to defend their rights, against their fellow-spirits in America.
