In olden times wakes, and funerals were different to now-a-days.
In olden times people used to be waked on the table instead of on the bed.
It is an old custome to give out clay pipes, tobacco, and muff at wakes.
Long ago people used to have drink such as Porter whiskey wine, and tea.
If the people were not enrolled in the scapular they would wear a dress called a shroud or winding-sheet, which is different to a habit. They wore the known habit if they were(continues on next page)- Informant
