    give her daughter to a dog, and she dressed the goose-girl as the princess. When the time came for the dog to come, it was a lovely young man that came, and he took away the goose-girl.
    As they were going along, they sat down to take a rest and he asked her if she would rather be with him or with her father, and she said she would rather be with her father. He took her back home and started taking more cattle from the king. At last they gave him the princess and when they were going away they sat down on the same place and he asked her the same question. She said she would rather be with him.
    He pulled a fist of rushes and there appeared a hole in the ground.
