There was a man there long ago whose name was Buckley. His descendants still live in the same place, which is in Bally-McElligott. One night this man was returning home from Tralee. When he was going over the road towards his own boreen he saw a ball of fire rolling along the road before him. Then the ball of fire disappeared and he saw walking before him a sow with a litter of bonhams running after her. Then they disappeared.
As he turned in his own boreen to go home, a woman walked beside him. Thinking it was his sister playing a trick on him, he jokingly put his leg before her. Instantly she struck him with her hand across the eyes. From that night on he was stone blind.
