- There were different kinds of bread made long ago such as, The Yellow Book, Stamhy, and Potato cake. The Yellow Book was made of meal wet with water and salt and a little flour also. It was baked on a griddle. Stamhy was made with raw potatoes grated mixed with flour and a little butter. This also was baked in a griddle.
The potatoe-cake was made with boiled potatoes mashed and mixed with butter and flour and baked in a griddle. In the famine years Black Bread was made from barley.- Collector
